Attended: International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare

Carol Fleishman (Adult Learning Specialization candidate) recently attended the 12th Annual International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH), held in San Diego January 28 to February 1, 2012. The 3100 people who attended participated in workshops about, and hands on demonstrations, of the technical and educational aspects of using computer operated mannequins, humans, virtual reality and plastic simulations of body parts for people in the clinical fields to improve their procedural and communication skills.

Carol had the opportunity to see how other people are using qualitative approaches to their research and have discussions about her particular focus: the use of oral feedback by standardized patients to novice, intermediate and experienced clinical learners.
The next annual International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare will be held on January 26-30, 2013 in Orlando, FL.
